MALACCA: Although DAP has downplayed the impact of its four Malacca lawmakers quitting the party, its top brass has been coming here to try and salvage things.
DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and his son, secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, were here yesterday to meet party members, with the elder Lim also going on a walkabout in the Kota Melaka parliamentary constituency to meet voters.
Meeting the press briefly, Kit Siang maintained that the party had never deviated from its core objectives as claimed by the four.
He dismissed talk that supporters of the four would resign en bloc, saying there was no “fire” in DAP’s backyard.
“(Political) parties have their problems. I don’t think there is any party without problems,” he said.
Guan Eng, a former Kota Melaka MP, arrived here last night and met with party members.
