Gerakan shows ‘love’ on Valentine’s Day

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Gerakan took a swipe at the state’s “I love Penang” campaign by presenting a T-shirt and a 10-point memorandum to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng on Valentine’s Day.

It was a white T-shirt with the words “I love Penang, earn huge profits” in Chinese.

“The shirt tells the chief minister not to be so focused on earning large profits until he forgets about the difficulties faced by Penangites.

“We made this shirt specially for him,” said the party’s state vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong, who went to Komtar with 10 party members.

The memorandum they sent along listed several public issues such as hill development, floods, heritage conservation, traffic, housing, reclamation, water tariffs and the performance of the manufacturing sector.

Lim’s information officer Zahar Zainol collected the shirt and memorandum on behalf of the chief minister.
