SEKINCHAN: Now that his son has been returned to him, there is nothing else that 68-year-old Chua Kee Chong wants for Fathers Day today.
The retired fisherman said he had been worried sick every day when his son Chua Lee Teck, 46, was jailed in Indonesia.
“My only wish was to see him come home safely and it has come true,” Kee Chong said outside SK Seri Sekinchan.
He was there along with his son, daughter-in-law and three other family members to cast their ballots for the Sungai Besar by-election.
Lee Teck, who returned home on Thursday after over three months in detention, said that he was tired but determined to per-form his civic duty.
“They have helped us. It is time to return the favour. We have voted for the candidate whom we hold dear in our hearts,” he said.
Chua said that after having enough rest, he would focus on making up for lost time with his family.
“I will bring my children and family out,” said the father of three.
Chua, along with Heng Chee Yong, 29, were detained by Indonesian authorities on March 3 during a fishing trip and sentenced to prison for encroaching on Indonesian waters.
Their incarceration ended when the Malaysian Government secured their release by obtaining a pardon from Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
