SHAH ALAM: Hundreds of friends, colleagues and family members gathered at the Church of Divine Mercy here to pay their last tribute to deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais.
The funeral mass, led by Rev Fr Simon Labrooy, begun at 11am Saturday with a hymn playing in the background.
The mass ended at 12pm, making way for the eulogy presented by Morais' colleague Manoj Kurup and cousin Desmond Louis.
Manoj described Kevin as having touched many lives throughout his service in the past 20 to 25 years.
"Ever since Kevin fell in the line of duty, not a day has gone by without me thinking about the manner of his demise and the feeling of helplessness that envelops me.
"Kevin was deeply concerned about his fellow officers. If I told him something sad about another officer, Kevin's face would contort with genuine grief.
"If I told him something good, equally his face would light up with genuine happiness. He had a passion about his fellow officers' welfare - that's the Kevin I want to remember," said Manoj in his emotional tribute to Morais.
Morais' cousin Desmond, who presented the eulogy on behalf of the family, described the DPP as shy, quiet and unassuming.
"He was articulate, hardworking, skillful, ethical, dedicated to his work as DPP and helpful to his colleagues. Another lawyer once described him as a fearless judicial officer," he said.
According to Desmond, Kevin was the eldest of four siblings. Him and his brothers Charles, David and Richard were all Selangor-born.
After the eulogy, a video montage of Morais' life was played, which left many mourners teary-eyed.
Morais went missing on Sept 4 and his body was found by the police in a cement-filled oil drum in Subang Jaya on Sept 16.
Eight people, including an army pathologist, have been accused of being involved in the plot to murder him.
