Pakistani national, two Malaysians held in connection with Bangkok blast

KUALA LUMPUR: Three people have been detained by Malaysian police to assist investigations into last month’s Bangkok bomb blast.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pix) said the suspects – a Pakistani man, and two Malaysians – were detained a few days ago.

“We are assisting Thai police regarding this probe.

“We feel these three can assist us in the investigation,” he told a press conference after attending the International Meeting on Global Piracy, Armed Robbery and Maritime Security on Monday.

Khalid, however, said that the suspects would not be handed over to Thai police just yet.

“We feel there is no need at present to hand them over to the Thai authorities.

“We are working together with our Thai counterparts. Let us investigate the matter first,” he said.
