KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim has been appointed the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
The Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar announced that Noor Rashid, 56, who previously headed the Bukit Aman Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department, is officially the nation’s number two top cop effective December.
He replaces former deputy IGP Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Zinin, who retired on Sept 7.
“He is a man of vast experiences in policing matters, competent and he has good leadership qualities.
“I am confident he has the ability to contribute to the growth of the police force,” Khalid said in a statement on Wednesday.
Noor Rashid, who hails from Yan, Kedah, graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree from Universiti Malaya.
Khalid said Noor Rashid entered the force with the rank of Asst Supt (ASP).
“He has held many top posts, including Sabah Police Commissioner and Bukit Aman Deputy CID director,” he said.
Khalid said he was confident that Noor Rashid was the right man for the job.
