Tian Chua won’t appeal against RM2,000 fine

PETALING JAYA: Tian Chua will not appeal against the RM2,000 fine imposed on him by a High Court.

“I’m very clear about what has happened and what is going on,” he said, referring to the consequences of the High Court sentence.

The High Court reduced his six-month jail sentence and RM3,000 fine to just a RM2,000 fine for causing hurt to a policeman three years ago.

Tian Chua said that since the Election Commission was not kicking up a fuss, then there was no issue about his status as MP.

“The DPP (deputy public prosecutor) is not appealing, so there really is no issue and nothing to be discussed,” he said when contacted.

Meanhile, Gerakan said the party was likely to field its candidate to contest the Batu parliamentary seat should a by-election be called.
