New prostitution service making its rounds in Miri

MIRI: Leaflets promoting a “mobile sex service” inside a luxury vehicle are being circulated here.

The leaflets in Chinese, believed to have been distributed over the last two days, have been found in office post boxes, residential estates and even on car windscreens in shopping areas.

They claim to offer sex with Chinese nationals in a Toyota Alphard at RM350 per hour. Three phone numbers are provided.

This reporter used a public phone to call one number.

A man answered and wanted to know who was calling.

When asked what sort of “service” was being provided, the man demanded a name, mobile phone number and location before talking further.

It is learnt that once a “deal” was made over the phone, the client would be informed of where to meet and pick the Chinese woman he preferred.

The woman would be “delivered” inside the vehicle at a location chosen by the client.

A check with the police showed that no report has been lodged on the new prostitution service.

Miri deputy OCPD Supt Ismail Paduka Idris warned the public not to be enticed.

“This is yet another attempt to use sex for financial gains. The public must not be lured by such activities.

“There are many potential risks in getting entangled with such activities. Stay away,” he said.

Three years ago, The Star exposed a prostitution ring that ferried prostitutes from Miri and Bintulu towns to “service” workers at the Bakun hydro-electric dam project.

After the exposé, the federal police headquarters sent a team of anti-vice officers and busted the sex trade there.

In the process, they rescued 11 Filipinas and arrested several pimps, including a wanted gangster.
