KUALA LUMPUR: Anti-Corruption Agency director-general Datuk Seri Zulkipli Mat Noors contract, which ends today, will not be renewed, the Prime Ministers Office said in a statement.
It expressed gratitude to Zulkipli for his services since his appointment on secondment in April 2001 and subsequently on contract from July 2005.
Under the leadership of Datuk Seri Zulkipli Mat Noor, various proactive and renewal efforts were undertaken including upgrading the network of collaboration at the international level.
The Government takes this opportunity to express the highest gratitude and thanks to Zulkipli for his services as the ACA director-general, said the statement received by Bernama here.
Zulkipli, 57, is under investigation by the police following allegations of corruption and abuse of power against him.
Federal CID director Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee said a special 10-member team formed on Tuesday had started recording statements from Zulkipli since Wednesday.
Zulkipli was seconded as the director-general from April 1, 2001 to March 31, 2003.
This was extended three times until July 19, 2005, when he reached compulsory retirement age.
Subsequently his service was extended on contract basis until July 19, 2006, and again from July 20, 2006 to March 31, 2007, the statement said.
Zulkipli joined the police force in 1949 as a Special Branch officer and later became its director.
He had also served as the Johor police chief for a year in 1996 and was appointed Sarawak Police Commissioner in 2000 before his secondment to the ACA in 2001.
