PETALING JAYA: Three new clusters have been detected in the country on Wednesday (Nov 11), all coming from Sabah, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The clusters were the Karamunting cluster, Saga cluster and Haven cluster.
Dr Noor Hisham said a new cluster, known as the Karamunting cluster, has been detected in Sandakan, Sabah.
He said the index case of the cluster was identified from a symptomatic individual screening on Oct 15, adding that the individual has been admitted to the Duchess of Kent hospital.
"As of noon, Nov 11, a total of 30 individuals have been screened, in which 21 tested positive, while nine others tested negative," he said during his daily press briefing on Wednesday.
In the Saga cluster, Dr Noor Hisham said it was detected in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, where the index case was detected from a symptomatic individual screening on Nov 8.
He said a total of 56 individuals have been tested from this cluster, adding that nine tested positive, while 47 others were still waiting for their results.
"All the positive cases have been admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital," he said.
Meanwhile, in the Haven cluster, Dr Noor Hisham said it was detected in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
"The index case of this cluster was detected from a symptomatic individual screening on Nov 5," he said, adding that a total of 140 individuals have been tested in this cluster.
Dr Noor Hisham said a total of 11 individuals have tested positive for the virus, 112 tested negative while 17 others were still waiting for their results.
Dr Noor Hisham noted that since the start of the pandemic, 289 clusters have been recorded, while 130 clusters have ended.
He noted that there are currently 159 active clusters in the country.
