CREATING safe, comfortable walkways and developing an integrated journey planner are key priorities under Selangor’s mobility portfolio next year.
State investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said connectivity to major transportation hubs and rail stations was one of the key concerns raised during the Selangor Mobility Symposium.
“It is a valid concern and we are getting municipal councillors and elected representatives to carry out walking audits to ensure areas under their supervision have safe, comfortable walkways to rail stations and schools.”
He said the walking audits were being carried out with relevant agencies, such as transport authorities, the Public Works Department (JKR) and local councils, alongside public transport advocates.
“These audits will identify problems and prompt necessary repairs or improvements.
“The audits will be a continuous process for both new and existing rail stations and schools,” said Ng, who has been carrying out walking audits in Shah Alam, Klang and Puchong over the past few months.
Meanwhile, he said an integrated journey planner was needed to serve as a single platform for public transport users to plan their entire journey.

“The planner could be an application or web-based format, or an upgrade to an existing application that integrates all public transport services such as KTM, LRT, MRT, bus and e-hailing services,” said Ng.
“It should ideally offer the user various options and guidance to get from point A to point B.”
He added that the planner could be similar to CityMapper, a multi-modal public transit and navigation application helping users travel across major global cities by combining public transit, walking, cycling and ride-hailing services into a single, real-time route with live data and step-by-step route planning.
Ng said the Selangor Mobility Symposium, held as part of the Selangor International Business Summit 2026 in mid-October, served as a platform for exchanging views among public transport users, advocates, stakeholders, and experts from Singapore, Indonesia and the UK.
“It was a very good engagement where we received valuable feedback, particularly from public transport users, who highlighted the need for safe, comfortable connectivity and an integrated journey planner.
“These will be our main focus areas,” said the Kinrara assemblyman when met at a “Jom Shopping Perayaan Deepavali” programme at Giant Bandar Kinrara in Puchong.
The event saw the distribution of shopping vouchers worth RM200 each to 800 recipients from the constituency to assist with their Deepavali preparations.
