RECENTLY, I needed to purchase a bus ticket and decided to take a drive to Klang Sentral.
My GPS “dropped” me off at a block of shops, stating that I had reached my destination.
I was in for a rude shock – there were blocks and blocks of shoplots here, many of which were unoccupied.
I had no choice but to walk around the deserted area, looking for a kind soul to direct me to the right location – a neighbouring complex now housing bus ticket sales operations.
Frankly, I was shocked at the state of Klang Sentral.
The bus hub I knew from 12 years ago is in such a poor state.
The building that once housed many food stalls on the ground floor and ticketing counters on the first floor was abandoned and dilapidated.
The entire surrounding area gave me the impression of a ghost town.
It was positively eerie.
I find it hard to believe that Klang Sentral, which served as a hub for all outstation destinations, is now so shabby and rundown.
How can this be allowed, especially as Klang gained city status just a few years ago?
The authorities concerned should take a serious look at the pathetic condition of Klang Sentral and its surroundings, and take the necessary steps to spruce it up.
It does not bode well for the image of Klang to have places in such a neglected state.
A facelift is what the building desperately needs.
