Petaling Jaya Neighbourhood Security Team (PKKPJ) grant recipients received increased funding to strengthen security and community welfare programmes in their areas.
Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) raised the allocation to RM3,500 per team, up from RM3,000 previously.
In total, RM434,000 was presented to 124 residents’ groups under PKKPJ 2026 to enhance neighbourhood safety and crime prevention efforts across Petaling Jaya.
In his speech during the event at Dewan Sivik in Petaling Jaya, mayor Datuk Mohamad Zahri Samingon said: “The development of a safe city depends not only on enforcement, but also on active community participation as the ‘eyes and ears’ in identifying local safety issues.”
MBPJ also presented excellence awards totalling RM14,000 to residents’ groups for their outstanding performance in neighbourhood safety programmes, community involvement and collaboration with relevant agencies.
In addition to PKKPJ, MBPJ has developed the Petaling Jaya Security Master Plan, a framework for urban security management.
The framework covers environmental design, infrastructure, digital technology, security management and enforcement.
