MALAYSIA’s property sector achieved international recognition at FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026 in Austria, securing six World Gold Winners and six World Silver Winners.

Widely regarded as the pinnacle of real estate, the awards celebrate projects that exemplify innovation, sustainability, architectural distinction and community impact.

This year’s ceremony was held at the historic Hofburg Palace in Vienna and drew global leaders, developers and visionaries from across the industry.

A total of 33 awards were presented – 14 World Gold Awards and 19 World Silver Awards – to projects from Australia, Austria, Brazil, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

FIABCI-Malaysia president Dr Yu Kee Su said: “Malaysia’s success at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards is a testament to the creativity, dedication and forward-thinking spirit of our developers.

“Winning 12 awards on the world stage reflects our commitment to building sustainable, inclusive communities and firmly positions Malaysia at the pinnacle of global real estate excellence.”

The achievement not only elevated Malaysia’s standing within the international real estate community, but also inspired confidence among investors, stakeholders and house buyers, he said in a media release.

Since its establishment in 1992, FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards have grown into one of the most influential honours in the global real estate industry.

Organised by International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), the awards aim to recognise projects that excel across diverse real estate disciplines.

The World Prix d’Excellence Awards feature 16 categories, covering affordable housing, industrial projects, hotel developments, master plans, heritage conservation, residential projects (high-rise, mid-rise and low-rise), public infrastructure and amenities, environmental projects and office developments.

The awards place strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, sustainable development, community engagement, safety and technology, the media release said.

Developers, investors and stakeholders increasingly recognise that integrating sustainability, promoting social equity and adhering to high standards of governance are essential for the long-term growth of the industry.

Winning projects are distinguished not only for their architectural and design excellence, but also for setting new benchmarks in innovation, green technology application and community well-being.

The integration of green building practices with smart technologies has been particularly prominent among award-winning entries, signalling a vital direction for the cities of the future.

With the deepening influence of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, values championed by the awards are guiding the industry towards higher standards of international growth and excellence.

Meanwhile, Yu was confirmed FIABCI world president-elect at the 76th World Real Estate Congress farewell dinner also held in Vienna.

His one-year term marks a significant milestone for Malaysia.

In accordance with the federation’s leadership progression, he will officially assume the role of world president in 2027.

Since 2018, FIABCI has implemented a distinctive three-stage leadership progression system designed to ensure stability and continuity within the organisation’s governance.

Yu reaffirmed his commitment to fostering deeper collaboration and innovation within the global real estate sector.

He emphasised that the industry was undergoing rapid transformation and that international cooperation was essential in addressing future challenges.

He added that FIABCI would continue to serve as a vital platform connecting governments, businesses, professionals and academia, driving the industry towards a more resilient and forward-looking future.
