MORE than 20 former students of SMK Anderson attended a reunion at the school in Ipoh, Perak, for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Class of 1983 alumni had travelled from across the country, and even from Europe, to attend the gathering at The Andersonians’ Club.

This was their fourth meetup, with the previous three held in 2014, 2017 and 2019.

During the reunion, they revisited their former classrooms and favourite hangout spots, rekindling fond memories of their school days.

The Andersonians also stood on the school’s main podium to sing the school anthem while being accompanied by the school’s marching band.

In his speech, club president Steward Hoo said he was glad that his schoolmates kept in touch with one another.

“It is important for us to reconnect as a meaningful way to bridge decades through shared stories and life experiences,” he said.

“As a senior member, it is also important for everyone to maintain good health and to continue engaging with the club.”

Meanwhile, event organiser NA James Paul said the reunion was a day of nostalgia, celebration and lasting friendship.

“It reflects the strong bonds that have endured over the years.

“We have a WhatsApp group to keep in touch with each other,” he said.

“All those who have lost contact with the batch may get in touch with me at 014-304 2335,” said James Paul.
