THE iconic “Ipoh” sign near the Gunung Lang area has been dismantled to allow for checks, repairs and refurbishment works.
Ipoh City Council (MBI) said in a statement that the move was taken to ensure the sign’s structure and condition remained safe, well-maintained and preserved as a proud landmark of the Perak state capital.
The local authority added that the sign’s reinstallation was expected to take place from Aug 4 to 6, depending on the weather and on-site progress, with full completion expected by Aug 15.
“MBI seeks the cooperation and patience of city residents during the refurbishment works.
“Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” MBI said, in a Bernama report.
MBI reiterated its commitment to keeping public facilities and city landmarks well maintained for the safety, comfort and well-being of its residents.
