SHOPPERS raced against the clock through Sogo Kuala Lumpur as part of the department store’s “Shop & Sweep” contest held in conjunction with its 31st anniversary celebration.
Organised in collaboration with Bank Islam, the campaign ran from Nov 1 to Dec 31 last year and attracted more than 13,000 entries.
Participants qualified by spending a minimum of RM100 in a single receipt, with Bank Islam cardholders receiving two entries.
From the pool of entries, 30 finalists were selected for the grand finale of a five-minute sweep through the supermarket section for groceries and daily essentials worth up to RM4,000.

Finalist Norshaerah Mohamad, 41, said she had gone into the challenge with a plan in mind.
“I was ready to get the items and had already marked them out earlier, especially coffee,” she said with a laugh.
However, once the timer began, she relied more on instinct than strategy.
“I do not think I made any mistakes. I just grabbed whatever I saw in front of me.”
The winnings, she added, would help ease her household expenses.

“It really helps, especially with the value reaching RM4,000.
“Who would give that away?”
The atmosphere was electric as supporters cheered on participants as they rushed through aisles in a bid to maximise their haul.
Sogo said the campaign aimed to reward loyal customers while offering a more engaging shopping experience.
It said the biggest bill was RM4,126.15, while most of the participants managed to hit the RM4,000 budget.
