SUBANG Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has awarded its top-performing staff and retirees with cash and gifts.

A total of 113 recipients − comprising 62 male and 51 female staff − were honoured at the MBSJ Excellent Service Award (APC) 2025.

Among them were Town Planning Department director Hazman Mohd Mahayudin and Health Department director Dr Nurnawwar Arpaaii.

Each received a special incentive of RM1,000 and certificate of appreciation in recognition of their contributions.

At the same ceremony, MBSJ also honoured 10 retirees – five who had reached the mandatory retirement age, four who opted for optional retirement, and one who was on contract.

Each received RM700 from MBSJ and RM500 from the MBSJ Sports and Welfare Club, certificate of appreciation and a watch.

In addition, the Mayor’s Special Award, Innovation Special Award, Sports Special Award and Culture Special Award were also presented.

This recognition was given to individuals and teams who had brought renown to MBSJ at national and international levels.

The Mayor’s Special Award went to Azura Don, who recently retired from her post as MBSJ’s Environmental Management Department director.

MBSJ Corporate and Strategic Management Department said in a statement that Azura’s contributions and achievements included establishing and managing an MBSJ childcare centre before it was handed over to the Welfare Department, besides the early establishment of MBSJ’s Hotline Team before it was handed over to the Corporate Department.

She also managed post-flood cleanup operations during the massive year-end 2021 flood; initiated recycling, waste reduction and composting programmes between MBSJ, schools and communities; as well as coordinated and started the Bandar Bukit Puchong Biomass Centre project, an environmental education centre in SS13 and a coconut waste management centre in USJ1.

“The APC ceremony reflects MBSJ’s ongoing commitment to strengthening a high-performance, integrity-based and excellence-oriented work culture,” said the media statement.

“This recognition is given to employees who have shown dedication in carrying out their duties and have contributed significantly in the fields of innovation, sports, social and community.”

Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim and deputy mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali presented the awards to recipients during the ceremony at Shah Alam Convention Centre in Section 14, Selangor.
