FESTIVE celebrations help foster harmony among Malaysia’s multiracial society.
In emphasising this, Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han said Hari Raya Aidilfitri offered an opportunity to strengthen neighbourly bonds and promote unity.
“It highlights the significance of open houses in fostering understanding,” he said at the Majlis Jalinan Aidilfitri Penduduk Jalan Perdana 4 at Gerai Syam Bawah Pokok in Kinrara, Selangor.
About 400 families from Taman Puchong Perdana, Puchong Intan and Puchong Indah who attended the event enjoyed a Thai and Kelantanese buffet.
Ng, who is Selangor state investment, trade and mobility committee chairman, said gatherings of this nature played a crucial role in nurturing camaraderie beyond the festivities.
Gerai Syam Bawah Pokok owner Mohd Isam Abdul Patah, 38, who organised the food, was happy to be part of the celebration.

Puchong Perdana, Puchong Intan and Puchong Indah are mature neighbourhoods known for their affordable housing and peaceful environment.
Ng, who presented contributions to families, said Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) contributed RM50 in cash while Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Bhd (ALR) gave RM50 vouchers for essential goods to 40 underprivileged people.
Fatimah Ahmad, 60, said she was grateful for the contribution that would help with her expenditures.
Former lorry driver Bachah Omar, 71, said the financial aid was appreciated, while Arifin Nawi, 71, said it would help with his family’s daily expenses.
Also present at the event were ALR traffic, engineering and safety head Muhd Nazri Muhd Nurdin, TNB Selangor (customer engagement) retail division team member Suhaila Mahmud and Subang Jaya city councillor Ronald Tah.
