City council warns of notice over inconsistent rubbish collection
Starting tomorrow, Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will issue deduction notice to KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) for any failure to perform agreed services.
Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said the city council would look at these shortfalls on a case-by-case basis.
“We were lenient before because we understood that KDEBWM had not yet fully obtained all the permits for its fleet.
“Now that the permits are secured for 77 rubbish compactors servicing areas under MBSJ, the service should be perfect,” he said during a press conference after the monthly full board meeting at the city council headquarters in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
In January, StarMetro reported on inconsistent rubbish collection due to difficulties KDEBWM faced in obtaining mandatory operating permits from the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) for its rubbish compactors.

This resulted in irregular rubbish collection affecting residential and commercial premises.
Amirul Azizan said the city council would verify public complaints before issuing the notice.
“Complaints lodged with MBSJ would be checked to see if they reflect the actual situation on the ground.
“The contractors appointed by KDEBWM include some with prior experience in collection, but others are new to this service.
“We don’t want the experienced ones to become complacent, and we don’t want the new ones starting off on the wrong foot.
“We expect ‘tip-top’ service from KDEBWM,” he said.
MBSJ Environmental Management Department director Azura Mohd Don said KDEBWM risked a minimum deduction of RM1,000 from its service fees if the company under-delivered on its services.
“The rubbish collection problem improved after lorry permit issues for the Subang Jaya operational area were completed on March 16.
“There were, however, some complaints during the Hari Raya period,” she said.
According to MBSJ, the notice would only be issued to KDEBWM for failing to comply with the established scope of work or to provide resolution or feedback for complaints regarding their services.
Meanwhile, MBSJ launched the Micromobility Sandbox at the Subang Jaya SS15 commercial area.
A total of 45 micromobility scooters have been deployed at three locations – SS15 LRT Station, Jalan SS15/4G and Asia University on Jalan SS15/4.
The pilot initiative will assess usage effectiveness, safety standards and regulatory requirements for micromobility vehicles in urban areas.
The initiative aims to gather data on regulatory compliance, feasibility of vehicle registration, and road safety, particularly the interaction between micromobility users and other motorists.
