OVER 4,000 Jalur Gemilang sponsored by a property developer were distributed to government departments and educational institutions in Negri Sembilan in conjunction with the 69th National Day celebration.
Recipients included Seremban City Council, Port Dickson Municipal Council and schools.
Flags had been proudly displayed throughout Bandar Sri Sendayan by developer Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd to foster community patriotism and create a vibrant atmosphere.
Besides the flag distribution, the group launched its Merdeka campaign.
Its property development division co-chief executive officer Chai Keng Wai said the community initiative aimed to celebrate harmony, patriotism and unity through the innocent and heartfelt perspectives of children.
He said it served as a timely reminder that unity began with everyday values like kindness, respect, empathy and acceptance.
“We hope to inspire more Malaysians to celebrate these values while embracing the spirit of patriotism during our National Day celebrations.
“As we celebrate Merdeka, we also celebrate the communities that make Malaysia stronger.
“We hope this campaign encourages everyone to appreciate our shared heritage and continue building a harmonious future together,” he said.
The campaign invited children aged seven to 12 to “Draw What Harmony Means to You”.
Over 200 submissions were received, each drawing captured scenes of everyday life – spending time with family, helping neighbours, playing with friends of different backgrounds and abilities or celebrating Malaysia’s rich multicultural heritage.
Chai said the children’s work reflected remarkable creativity, sincerity and optimism, and was a reminder to everyone that harmony grew from daily acts of kindness, respect and togetherness.
Matrix Concepts, in a media statement, said the top 20 winning entries would form the heart of Matrix Concepts’ Merdeka campaign.
The winners will be recognised with a selection of exclusive prizes in appreciation of their creativity and participation in the campaign.
The children’s artwork will also be featured across print advertisements and digital platforms, allowing their inspiring message of harmony and patriotism to reach communities throughout the National Day celebrations.
