Information Department (Japen) Johor is handing out 5,000 Jalur Gemilang until month end to foster patriotism.

Its assistant director Abdul Rahman Abdul Halim said the initiative was one of various programmes held in conjunction with National Day.

Programmes had been carried out since July, aimed at encouraging the public to display the national flag and show love for the country, he said at the launch of the “Japen Jalur Gemilang Expression” programme at a petrol station along the North-South Highway in Skudai.

Some 200 magnetic flags and souvenirs were distributed to road users at the event.

Japen also organised the “Jago Merdeka” roadshow at a mall in Johor Baru as part of its efforts to bring the celebrations closer to the community.

Abdul Rahman hopes the public will display the Jalur Gemilang proudly and participate in National Day activities being held across the state.
