PETALING Jaya City Council (MBPJ) councillor Christopher Ong has given assurance to follow up on the safety concerns raised about the construction work in Section 16.

“I will contact the relevant departments in MBPJ and get in touch with the developer for the latest updates, including safety aspects of the project,” he told StarMetro after visiting the construction site on Wednesday.

He was referring to the construction of a flyover for the high-rise project.

The development, near the junction of Jalan Dato Abu Bakar (also known as Jalan 16/1) and Jalan 16/11, comprises high-rise blocks and a podium.

Resident Shazwan Azizan said that although there were notice boards for the development project, there was no information on the ramps and their impact on neighbouring areas.

“The construction has created a blind spot at the turning from SPRINT Highway into Jalan 16/1,” he said.

Motorist R. Theresa said she had noticed vehicles struggling to enter Jalan 16/11 due to the placement of plastic barriers.

However, her biggest concern is when the full-scale construction begins.

“I cannot avoid this road because there is only one entrance and exit to Phileo Damansara,” she added.

The signboard at the construction site stated that Block A will consist of a 39-storey building with 499 units of serviced apartments as well as a 36-storey small office home office (SoHo) component.

Block B will consist of a 34-storey building with 400 units of serviced apartments and a 25-storey SoHo affordable housing component with 112 units, as well as 231 units of affordable serviced apartments.

There will also be a 13-storey podium comprising business and parking facilities along with other residential amenities.

In a StarMetro report titled “PJ folk worry high-rise can worsen traffic” on Sept 6, 2025, developer Trinity Group said there would be three lanes at the slip road between Jalan 16/11 and SPRINT Highway, with one extra lane added.

The additional lane would serve as a dedicated ingress ramp to the project, while a direct egress ramp from the project to SPRINT will also be prepared, it said.
