A VIDEO showing an SUV driving recklessly against traffic flow has been circulating on social media.

The footage, which appears to have been captured by dashboard cameras and bystanders, shows the vehicle weaving through oncoming traffic before colliding with several other cars.

The incident allegedly occurred on Jalan Dato Abu Bakar in Petaling Jaya. But did this dangerous driving incident really happen?

A man was arrested for driving against traffic and causing an accident at Jalan Dato Abu Bakar 16/1 in Petaling Jaya today.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mat said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division received a report on the incident at 1.15pm.

He said preliminary investigations found that the accident, which occurred at about 11.28am, involved a red SUV.

"The vehicle was driven against the flow of traffic before being involved in a collision with several other vehicles. The drivers involved did not sustain any injuries, and the SUV driver has been detained under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said in a statement.

He also urged members of the public who witnessed the incident or were at the scene to come forward to the nearest station or contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohammad Najib Mohd Azaman, at 012-3526147 to assist in investigations
