Local council, corporate partners join forces to support CSR event
A SHOPPING mall in Klang, Selangor, treated 80 children from five orphanages to iftar to strengthen community ties.

Centro Mall advertising and promotion manager Steven Chong described the event, held at the mall’s ballroom and attended by 150 guests, as “a wonderful moment”.
The homes – Pusat Jagaan Haneen Firdous, Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Istimewa Sayang, Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Kota Raja Klang, Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Pendidikan Nur Kasih Selangor and Madrasah Ulumulquran Wal Ahadith – also received RM500 each.
Chong said the event was part of the mall’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to give back to the community.
“MBDK’s support, together with contributions from Jaya Grocer and Munchy’s, made the event more meaningful,” he said.
Universal Robina Munchy chief executive officer Rodney Wong said, “Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces was a reminder of our mission.”
MBDK Corporate Communications Department director Norfiza Mahfiz, who represented Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain, said the event underscored the importance of compassion, unity and support for the community.
Also present were Centro Mall’s general manager Jerry Miranda and assistant centre manager Jacqueline Quah, North Klang district police chief Asst Comm (ACP) Vijaya Rao Samachulu, Jaya Grocer senior advertising and promotions manager Ho Yong Pheng and Munchy’s national sales manager Tonny Leong.
