KUALA LUMPUR City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers will use body-worn cameras during patrols and inspections at Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri bazaars.
DBKL, in a statement, said this was to maintain professional conduct and transparency among its officers, while also ensuring personal safety.
‘The recordings will serve as evidence in the event of disputes during enforcement operations.
“Body cameras will be worn during regular patrols, inspection of licence and interaction with the public at these festive bazaars.
“DBKL is committed to ensuring enforcement activities are carried out with transparency and professionalism for the benefit of city residents,” DBKL said on Tuesday (March 10).
StarMetro previously reported that the use of body cameras by enforcement officers was among several integrity measures introduced by DBKL and the Federal Territories Department, following a cooperation agreement signed with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) earlier this year.
Under the agreement, MACC will have broader access to agencies under the Department, allowing closer monitoring, information sharing, and assistance in detecting and verifying complaints or misconduct.
