Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) swift action in patching up potholes along Lorong Arfah 2 and 3 in Segambut within two days is a short-term fix, say stakeholders who want the entire road resurfaced.
The media had highlighted the matter on July 14, with DBKL patching up the potholes on July 16.
An employee of a car spare parts firm, Loh Kit Chung, said motorists had struggled for years to navigate the uneven road.
“Patching it only provides short-term relief.
“We want the entire road to be resurfaced,” Loh said.
Community activist Yee Poh Ping said Lorong Arfah 3 had not been repaved for several years.
“Potholes will form over time due to heavy usage by nearby businesses,” said Yee.
“Businesses hope DBKL will also upgrade the drainage system as the area is prone to flooding,” Yee said, adding that rubbish was strewn along the roadside.
During a site visit by StarMetro, an abandoned shipping container was seen by the roadside next to rubbish, dried leaves and tree branches, with stagnant water pooling in nearby drains.
“Business owners here pay their assessment tax but are not receiving proper infrastructure.
“We hope City Hall can allocate funds for this in its budget,” said Yee.
