MPAJ steps it up against illegal businesses

Chickens seized in Ampang Hilir.

AMPANG Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has intensified its crackdown on illegal business activities, targeting roadside vendors, eateries and unlicensed foreign traders across its jurisdiction.

Enforcement officers conducted a series of coordinated raids, seizing equipment including tables, chairs, gas cylinders and cooking apparatus left behind by traders after operating hours.

The operations spanned key locations such as Taman Melawati, Pandan Cahaya, Taman Cempaka, Kampung Baru Ampang and Pandan Indah.

“Assets seizures were carried out to ensure that public spaces remain clear of obstructions,” the local council said in a media statement.

“MPAJ wants to stress that traders must comply with licensing requirements by not leaving their wares behind,” it added.

In Pandan Perdana alone, 384 compounds were issued for various offences, primarily targeting eateries and workshops for occupying parking bays with furniture and tools.

Meanwhile, a raid in Ampang Hilir led to confiscation of live chickens and mobile counters from unlicensed foreign traders operating in breach of local by-laws.

“Five seizures were carried out specifically for illegal operations and by-law violations,” MPAJ said.

In a separate enforcement exercise, Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) dismantled a telecommunications tower in Jalan Teluki, Bukit Sentosa, found to have been erected without prior approval.

MPHS emphasised that “all telecommunications infrastructure within the municipality must strictly comply with the law”.

The exercise was supported by Tenaga Nasional Bhd, the police and the Hulu Selangor Land and District Office. — By FARID WAHAB
