Ramadan and Syawal aid allotted for 78,656 underprivileged families

Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has begun disbursing alms to asnaf and mualaf recipients to help with their Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri preparations.

The allocation of RM35.94mil was for 78,656 households, said LZS chief executive officer Mohd Khaidzir Shahari.

This comprises RM13.18mil to 27,815 asnaf fakir (hardcore poor), RM21.36mil to 44,943 asnaf miskin (poor) and the remainder to 4,898 mualaf (converts).

He said the hardcore poor would receive at least RM350, while the poor would get between RM300 and RM1,000, according to the number of dependants.

The recipients by district comprise 8,414 from Gombak, 12,217 (Hulu Langat), 6,717 (Hulu Selangor), 13,167 (Klang), 6,296 (Kuala Langat), 7,329 (Kuala Selangor), 14,778 (Petaling), 5,809 (Sabak Bernam) and 3,929 (Sepang).

Mohd Khaidzir was speaking at a press conference following the launch of a Ramadan and Aidilfitri aid programme at KSL Convention Centre in Klang attended by Selangor deputy mufti Datuk Dr Miszairi Sitiris, as reported by Bernama.

The disbursement is via bank transfer, e-wallet, v-cash (Bank Islam cash vouchers) or cash.

“We are enhancing the distribution process through the EZO (EZakat Online) system to ensure transparency, efficiency and easy access for recipients to track their aid.

“This multi-channel payment approach is also designed to ensure no asnaf is left out, especially in rural areas or where access to banking is limited.”

Mohd Khaidzir said eligible recipients would be notified via SMS to registered phone numbers and could also check their aid status at ezo.zakatselangor. com.my

He said, “Zakat Selangor will continue to enhance its governance to ensure its benefits reach the needy and support their socioeconomic well-being.”

“Our focus is to make sure the aid reaches those who need it the most, based on each district’s poverty profile, while also improving post-distribution monitoring.”

Earlier, Mohd Khaidzir witnessed the presentation of a RM50,000 Public Islamic Bank Bhd zakat wakalah mock cheque along with necessities from Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation to 60 families.
