STAFF members of Star Media Group (SMG) were treated to an early festive cheer ahead of Chinese New Year, as community leaders and corporate representatives paid courtesy visits to the Star Pitt St office in George Town, Penang.

Mandarin oranges and festive hampers were given as tokens of prosperity and goodwill.

Amid the cheerful greetings, both sides shared updates on their latest developments, strengthening ties in the spirit of the season.

Adding to the merriment was retired chef Lim Poh Hang, who delighted staff by dressing as the God of Prosperity.

In a playful twist, he ‘rode’ in on a plush slip-on horse costume to symbolise this year’s Chinese zodiac sign.

Among the visitors was Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim, who led a delegation of state party leaders to present mandarin oranges to SMG news editor Arnold Loh and deputy news editor Tan Sin Chow.

Also in attendance was Penang Government Communications Division director Yap Lee Ying, representing Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Penang DAP Wanita head Heng Lee Lee also came with several wing leaders, joined by Por Cheng Han, special officer to Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying.

SMG was represented by client brand marketing (bureaus) general manager Simone Liong and Sin Chow.

Other political visitors included Penang MCA secretary Yeoh Chin Kah and Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong, rounding off a series of festive visits that brought joy and camaraderie to the newsroom.

Corporate and association visitors included leaders and management teams from Heineken Marketing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, M Summit Group, Sunway Medical Centre Penang Sdn Bhd, Bukit Jambul Complex, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, LohGuanLye Specialists Centre and the Penang Wedding Professionals Association.
