In Nilai, Negri Sembilan, one teenager’s stroke of luck has elevated his family’s daily commute to a whole new level of luxury.

Fourteen-year-old Che Thaqif Dzakwan Che Mazlan is the latest winner of the Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) Premium Savings Certificate (SSP) draw.

He walked away with a brand-new BMW 520i M Sport worth approximately RM364,800.

“It felt like a dream,” he said at the prize presentation at BMW Millennium Welt KL North in Kuala Lumpur.

The teenager said his father would be the one enjoying the driver’s seat for now.

“Even when I get my licence one day, I’ll be focusing on my studies first.”

While the win feels like a stroke of magic, it was actually the result of years of steady financial discipline by his father, Che Mazlan Che Jaafar, 49.

Che Mazlan began saving for Che Thaqif Dzakwan when he was just seven years old.

As soon as the boy turned 12, the minimum age for the BSN SSP scheme, the dedicated father moved the funds into the Premium Savings Certificate.

By consistently saving a minimum of RM500 monthly, the duo qualified for the “Consistent Savings” quarterly draw.

“The most important thing is the habit of saving, regardless of the amount,” said Che Mazlan.

“I have a BSN SSP account under my own name too, but it turns out my son is the lucky one!” he added.

While the BSN SSP draws are famous for its RM1mil grand prizes, Che Mazlan and his family view this luxury sedan as a life-changing “bonus” to their savings goal.

He said he has long maintained savings accounts in BSN for his entire family.

“The amount I save every month depends on how much extra I have at the time,” Che Mazlan added.
