SEREMBAN: Barisan Nasional’s Nilai candidate Datuk Alan Lai has launched an online community platform aimed at giving residents a direct channel to report local issues and submit ideas for the constituency’s future development.
The portal, Suara Nilai (suaranilai.my), is designed as a one-stop platform where residents can lodge public complaints, access information and share proposals, with Lai saying it would help bridge the gap between the community and its elected representative through faster follow-up on complaints.
The platform’s first flagship initiative, dubbed “Brighten Up Nilai”, focuses on faulty street lights, which Lai said had emerged as a recurring concern during his walkabouts.
According to him, residents can upload photographs and the exact locations of broken street lights through the portal, allowing his team to compile reports, identify hotspots and raise the cases with the relevant local authorities to speed up repairs.
“Lighting every road that people use to travel to and from home is fundamental to community safety,” Lai said in a statement on Wednesday (July 29).
He said the portal will also be used to gather public feedback on economic development, including proposals to help Nilai benefit from the planned return of Formula One racing to the nearby Sepang International Circuit.
Lai reiterated his previously proposed “F1 x Nilai Tourism Action Plan”, comprising five initiatives.
This includes accommodation packages combining hotel stays, shuttle services and local vouchers and a “Nilai Night Festival” featuring food and cultural performances, among others.
Apart from that, it also includes a “Visit Nilai Pass” offering discounts at shopping centres, restaurants and attractions; a “Nilai Local Experience” tourism package highlighting village life, cafés and local produce; and the establishment of an “F1 Nilai Task Force” to coordinate traffic management, business promotion and volunteers.
He urged residents and business operators to use the portal not only to report infrastructure issues but also to contribute ideas that could help strengthen Nilai’s long-term economic growth.
