Sepang council expenditure within limits, revenue surpasses targets

Ani says MPSepang’s spending for 2025 shows prudent financial management.

SEPANG Municipal Council’s (MPSepang) total expenditure last year was well within approved limits.

Its president Dr Ani Ahmad said the local council spent RM244mil, including its commitments, from an approved RM274mil allocation last year – achieving an 89% spending rate.

“As of December 2025, MPSepang recorded RM269mil in tax and non-tax revenue, surpassing its annual estimate of RM232mil or 116% of the target.

“This shows prudent financial management,” she said at the full board meeting at MPSepang headquarters in Cyberjaya.

When asked about enforcement action throughout last year, Ani said the council issued 10,815 compounds for various offences.

MPSepang recorded 12,156 seizures covering business premises, vehicles, advertisements and lorries, she said.

“A total of 2,224 vehicles parked outside designated bays were towed in Cyberjaya, Dengkil and Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi.

“MPSepang issued 493 compounds to heavy vehicles and conducted three integrated enforcement operations with the police and Road Transport Department (JPJ).”

Ani said 92 complaints were received in 2025 for abandoned vehicles, resulting in 1,146 warning notices being issued.

“A total of 268 vehicles were seized, 691 removed by their owners while 187 cases remain under follow-up action,” she said.

On dengue cases, she said the Sepang district recorded a 54% reduction with 1,299 cases reported compared with 2,825 cases in 2024.

“Dengue outbreaks in the district also declined by nearly 72%, with only seven outbreak localities recorded last year, compared with 25 localities in 2024.”

She said this year, the local council’s Environmental Health Department would continue preventive measures against infectious diseases, particularly dengue.

“The council is targeting a further 10% reduction in cases and 30% reduction in dengue outbreak localities in the district.”

However, the decline in dengue cases depends on coordinated efforts involving multiple stakeholders, including the Sepang District Health Office and local communities, to break the Aedes mosquito life cycle, she said.

Commenting on premises inspections and hygiene grading, Ani said the data showed there was improvement last year.

Out of the 1,305 checked, 844 premises or 64.67% receive Grade A.

Ani said it was an improvement from 2024, where only 765 premises or 58.66% out of 1,304 received the top rating.

Meanwhile, the percentage of public toilets under MPSepang receiving a three-star rating increased by 5% last year, she said.

“Audits and star ratings for public toilets in 2025 surpassed targets, with 482 premises assessed against a target of 450.

“This year, the focus will be on ensuring that 60% of public toilets under MPSepang’s care achieve the clean, attractive and fragrant status,” she added.
