COMFORT, punctuality and convenience make Johor’s Electric Train Service (ETS) the top choice of Normalina and Nurliyana Abdul Razak.

The sisters had driven for over an hour from Batu Pahat to Kluang to board the train to Johor Baru for Normalina’s job interview.

“We could have driven to JB, but we decided to take the train as it is less stressful.

“There is ample parking at the train station and it is also free. I feel safe leaving my car here.

“By taking the train, we do not have to deal with traffic, which can be very unpredictable, and there is no need to stress about parking,” said Normalina.

They were among ETS passengers StarMetro spoke to at the Kluang Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) station.

For factory production operator P. Shalini, who works in Singapore, the ETS allows her to travel to her hometown of Kluang without much hassle.

“I have been using the train ever since I began working in Singapore about six months ago.

“I used to take the old train but the ETS is a lot faster and more comfortable.

“It has made my life easier. I take the Tebrau Shuttle from Singapore to Johor Baru before hopping on the ETS to reach Kluang.”

She hopes more daily trips will be added to the schedule.

“The timing sometimes doesn’t suit my working hours.

“I hope that they will increase the frequency soon,” she said.

Passenger Alice Tan said she did not expect the train to be so comfortable.

“This is the first time I am boarding the electric train and I am very excited to finally experience it.

“Unlike the previous locomotive train, the ETS is not as loud, and the best part is that it was punctual.”

Tan, who is a retiree, said her son had suggested that she take the ETS to visit him in Kuala Lumpur.

“I am glad I did. After this, I don’t think I will ever take the bus to Kuala Lumpur,” she said. — By VENESA DEVI
