THE pig farms that will be moved to Bukit Tagar will not be located inside the landfill, although they will be near it, Selangor executive councillor Ng Sze Han (pic) says.
“I noticed several reports that stated the pig farming area would be built on the landfill. That is incorrect," he said.
“The farms will be built on agricultural land near the Bukit Tagar landfill.
“The landfill has its own required buffer zones, and a modern pig farm has its own buffer requirements as well.
“So, it definitely won't be inside the landfill,” he told reporters on Thursday.
It was reported last week that Selangor government has plans to centralise pig farms in the state at Bukit Tagar in Hulu Selangor, within the next three years.
Ng, however, did not specify the farms' location.
“Bukit Tagar area consists of tens of thousands of acres of estate land.
“The plan is to establish a suitable site for modern pig farming,” he said.
