A once-abandoned recreational park along Jalan BS 5/18A, Taman Bukit Serdang in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, has now been upgraded with sports equipment.

Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki said the park improvements costing RM40,000 was carried out under Projek Selangor Penyayang.

Residents gave several suggestions at a meeting on Aug 3 last year, including outdoor gym equipment, community garden and a half basketball court for youths.

Wong said the upgrades would encourage greater use of the park by the wider community.

“Senior citizens also requested an outdoor gym set and space to hold tai chi sessions,” she said in a press conference at the park after the equipment were installed.

The new facilities include space walker, waist and back massaging equipment, horse rider, cycle bike, tai chi wheel and a single lat pull-down unit.

Outgoing MBSJ Zone 22 councillor Tey Boon Kiat, who was also at the press conference, said the area was prone to flash floods during heavy rain.

He said the local council was working to address the issue by improving the drainage system.

Tey added that a request for RM30,000 had been submitted for the development of a half basketball court. — BY MEGAT SYAHAR
