Johor government is strengthening its engagement with the media.
State information and education committee chairman Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali said: “There are many things that we want to bring to the people, but sometimes when I go to the ground, I find that the information has not reached them.
“That is why the media plays an important role in helping us deliver accurate information.
“We need two-way communication and we want the media to tell us what works in the current environment,” he said after launching Kelab Media Johor’s (KMJ) annual general meeting.
He said he had begun engaging with the media to strengthen cooperation and improve communication.
“When people read news from the mainstream media, they are more likely to trust the information,” he added.
Earlier in his speech, Dr Muhammad Naqib said the state was working on a more structured communication system.
“We want to establish a clear organisational structure for Johor’s communications.
“With this structure, information can be delivered effectively to media practitioners.”
He also hinted that something was in store for media practitioners in the upcoming Johor Budget.
“I can confirm is that there is something for the media.
“We will have to wait for the budget speech,” he said.
In his speech, KMJ president Mohamad Fauzi Ishak expressed hope that the state government would consider the club’s proposal to have its own building.
He said the facility could serve as a centre for the club’s administration, training, meetings and welfare activities.
