A Goat-breeding project run by Kampung Endah Rukun Tetangga (RT) is increasing capacity, diversifying and growing through community involvement.

Kampung Endah RT chairman Kamal Ali said the project not only aimed to generate sustainable income, but also to strengthen the local economy through direct involvement of residents in livestock management.

He told Bernama that the project received an allocation of RM50,000 from National Unity Ministry for the construction of stables, stores and maintenance equipment.

“The farm, which is over a year old, also houses 30 sheep with a selling price of between RM500 and RM2,000 each.

“It also sells value-added products such as roast lamb and marinated lamb, which has seen encouraging sales,” said Kamal.

The community also operates RT Corner which sells cottage industry products made by womenfolk, such as flowers, crisps and bakawali essential oil.

Its manager Norulhuda Md Sairi said RT Corner, which operates every Friday to Sunday, generated income of up to RM2,000 a week, with Bromeliad flowers and crisps generating the most sales.

Future plans, according to project manager Muhammad Maryus Mardi, included a programme where the public could own sheep which would be managed by the community.

Kampung Endah in Kuala Langat, Selangor, was the first settlement in the district to receive recognition last year as “Rukun Tetangga Penggerak Komuniti Progresif” (Progressive Community Mobiliser) under National Unity Ministry.

It is also listed under the 2025 Madani Adopted Village Programme.
