USED peritoneal dialysis (PD) bags are being repurposed into medication pouches and tote bags under a recycling project that will benefit kidney patients.
The project by Vantive Malaysia in partnership with National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Malaysia helps reduce waste going to landfills while helping patients.
A total of 1,000 pouches made from PD bags have been produced so far, according to Vantive Malaysia country head Christine Ng.
“We are committed to building a more sustainable healthcare ecosystem.
“This project with NKF demonstrates how innovation and collaboration can transform waste into something meaningful – by supporting PD patients and raising awareness on recyclable PD bags,” she said.
The pouches are available for purchase on NKF’s website, with proceeds going towards subsidies for dialysis patients.
“These upcycled tote bags and the 1,000 medication pouches are more than just functional items – they reflect creativity, care and commitment to sustainability,” said NKF chief executive officer Choo Kok Ming.
Vantive Malaysia and NKF hope the project will encourage community involvement in recycling.
