THE state government has launched the ninth edition of Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2025 to be held next month at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

It aims to drive stronger regional collaboration and support inclusive economic growth across South-East Asia (SEA).

Selangor investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said SIBS 2025 would return to its single-series format as a way of consolidating logistics and resources, as well as attracting more visitors.

“Last year’s SIBS saw nearly RM14bil in potential transactions inked, almost double the amount in the previous year,” he said, adding that it was held in July and October.

“SIBS has grown into a significant regional platform that brings together stakeholders from across SEA and beyond.

“It is where ideas are exchanged, connections fostered, partnerships forged and visions shared.

“What sets SIBS apart is its spirit of inclusivity.

“We believe this region is stronger when all voices – big or small, established or emerging – are given space to contribute.”

Ng urged potential investors to look beyond Selangor’s 7.4 million population and see it as a gateway to the Asean market.

SIBS 2025 will feature six major events, namely Selangor International Food and Beverage Expo, Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo, Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention, Selangor Asean Business Conference and two new additions – Selangor Aerospace Summit (SAS) and Selangor International Care Summit.

The last event mentioned, debuted this year, will be organised by Wanita Berdaya Selangor and headed by Selangor women empowerment and welfare committee chairman Anfaal Saari.

It will focus on key issues such as mental health, wellness and ageing while emphasising the importance of human-centric development.

The care summit will host 60 exhibitors, mostly from Malaysia, including a few Asean members and Europe.

SAS is the rebranded version of the Selangor Aviation Show that highlights the state’s aim to become a national aerospace hub while fostering collaboration with industrial, logistics and digital economy players.

Also present at the launch at the Shah Alam Convention Centre were Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, Anfaal, Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris and Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M. Yusop.

SIBS 2025 will be open to trade visitors from Oct 8 to 10 and the public on Oct 11.
