SME Corp names Teng Chang Khim as new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: SME Corporation Malaysia has named Datuk Teng Chang Khim as the agency’s new chairman effective May 18, 2026.

In a statement today, it said the appointment was made by Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong.

It said Teng is a law graduate from the University of London and holds a Master of Business Administration from Perdana University.

"Teng, who is a former board member of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), brings extensive experience in the industry and business fields, including having held positions as a board member of the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation and Invest Selangor Bhd,” the agency said.

It said the former Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly also has experience in developing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) via his responsibilities as a Selangor executive council  (EXCO) member. 

Teng previously held the investment, small and medium industries, trade and transportation portfolio from 2014 to 2018, and the industry and trade portfolio from 2018 to 2023, it said.

"Throughout his career, he has served as Selangor Information and Digital Economy Council chairman, Selangor Halal Industry Council vice chairman and Selangor International Business Summit organiser chairman,” said SME Corp Malaysia.

SME Corp Malaysia said it welcomed the appointment and would remain committed to empowering SMEs in the country, in line with the agenda of the 13th Malaysia Plan.

At the same time, the agency also expressed its appreciation to former chairman Tan Sri Bernard Giluk Dompok for his contributions throughout his term of service since 1 April 2023. - Bernama
