Selangor attracts RM185bil in investments over two years

SELANGOR approved 4,569 investment projects in 2024 and 2025, totalling RM185.04bil.

State investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said RM124.09bil comprised domestic investment, while RM60.96bil came from foreign investors.

He was answering a question from Leong Tuck Chee (PH- Pandamaran) regarding total investments in Selangor for the two years.

In answer to questions by Gunarajah R. George (PH-Sentosa) on efforts to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Bandar Sentosa, Ng said the township in Klang had good industrial development potential.

“It is driven by population growth and a large labour force,” he said during the Selangor State Assembly sitting in Bangunan Dewan Negeri Selangor, Shah Alam, yesterday.

“Based on Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) statistics, Bandar Sentosa has grown steadily over the past decade, from 132,500 people in 2017 to 141,300 in 2020, a 6.64% increase in population,” he said, adding that the population in 2025 was 157,300.

He also said the ratio of industrial areas to residential areas was 1:6.

Ng added that Invest Selangor has launched several investment promotion programmes including Selangor International Business Summit and Selangor Soft Landing Programme.

“These programmes offer holistic business ecosystem support, including guiding investors, coordinating with federal agencies like Malaysian Investment Development Authority as well as local authorities, offering free co-working spaces and assisting in providing local talent for investors.

“This year, Invest Selangor launched Local Business Connect (LBC), a new initiative to connect SMEs, multinational corporations and local talent within a specific area.

“Through LBC, SMEs can gain a deeper understanding of the requirements of multinational entities and foreign investors,” he said.

Ng added that the first LBC programme held in the Batu Tiga constituency gathered 74 companies.

“We also welcome other assemblymen who are interested in collaborating with Invest Selangor via LBC to enhance the capabilities of SMEs in their respective areas while creating high-value job opportunities for people in these localities,” he said.
