A HEALTHCARE group has donated cataract surgeries to community members in need of the procedure.

Jitra assemblyman Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah presented the donations from Aurelius Frontier Jitra and Aurelius Hospital Alor Setar to Ghazali Mohd Yusoff, Roziyah Hamid and Fatimah Razak.

The donation was in conjunction with the launch of Aurelius Frontier Jitra, which is Aurelius Healthcare’s first Ambulatory Care and Specialist Centre aimed at improving access to healthcare in northern Malaysia.

The centre was launched by Haim Hilman alongside Aurelius Healthcare senior management.

The centre is designed to support early intervention, provide ongoing outpatient care and specialist consultations for patients from Jitra, Alor Setar, Changlun and nearby rural areas.

“We believe that quality healthcare should be close to home and not limited to major urban centres,” said Aurelius Healthcare chairman and group managing director Datuk Amir Firdaus Abdullah in a statement.

“Aurelius Frontier Jitra represents our commitment to reaching communities that traditionally have fewer options when it comes to specialist care.

“This is part of a larger vision to build a more equitable and inclusive healthcare landscape for all Malaysians.

“This centre reflects a new way of delivering care – accessible, streamlined and focused on everyday health needs,” said Aurelius Frontier chief executive officer Eow Sze Kim.

Haim Hilman said the facility would benefit families in Jitra and the surrounding areas.

“This collaboration reflects our shared aspiration to bring better services to the people, particularly in suburban and semi-rural areas with limited access to healthcare.

“It’s heartening to see healthcare providers stepping forward,” he added.

The event also featured health screenings for blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol as well as hearing tests for children.

A lucky draw to win maternity packages was held and announced during the event, with winners enjoying fully sponsored normal birth delivery at Aurelius Hospital Alor Setar and postnatal follow-up at Aurelius Frontier Jitra.
