SOME 170 schoolchildren beamed with joy as they received new school bags and stationery sets from Sindhi Association of Malaysia.

Presentation ceremonies were held at SJK (T) Bangsar and SMK Vivekananda in Kuala Lumpur.

The association’s president Rakhee Sawlani, who handed over the supplies, stressed the importance of education and how small acts of kindness could make a big difference in a child’s life.

“Every child deserves access to formal education.

“Something as simple as a school bag with stationery can boost their motivation to learn,” said Rakhee.

This project was led by Bag2School fundraising project head Arjan Pursumal.

Among the criteria for recipients was their attendance rate in the previous academic year.

“I will achieve full attendance this year too, so that I can get a new bag next year,” said one of the recipients.
