SOME 150 Jalur Gemilang were distributed to traders in Little India, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, during a community walkabout to mark National Month.
The event was held under the “Jiwa@Komuniti Madani Sembang Santai” Bukit Bintang Zone 4 programme.
It was organised by the Kuala Lumpur Information Department (JaPen) in collaboration with Rukun Tetangga Brickfields and the Bukit Bintang Federal Territories Residents’ Representative Council (MPPWP).
Representatives from the National Unity Ministry also took part.
Rukun Tetangga Brickfields chairman SKK Naidu said the programme encouraged traders to display the national flag at their premises throughout the month.
“We went from shop to shop and distributed 150 flags.
“We hope the shop owners and tenants will put them up and add to the Merdeka atmosphere in Little India,” he said.
Retail shop proprietor K. Rama welcomed the initiative.
“We will display the flag at our shop throughout August.
“It is a simple way for us to take part in the National Day celebrations.”
Also present were Bukit Bintang, Seputeh and Putrajaya district information officer Norizah Jadid, Bukit Bintang MPPWP chairman Fong Kok Seng and MPPWP Zone 4 chief Cynthia Hor.
