MENTERI Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor) will use its group strategic plan to guide the organisation until 2028 to ensure it continues to drive the state’s economy.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said MBI Selangor would refine several strategies, including increasing revenue and profits, with a revenue target of RM8bil by 2026 and a pre-tax profit of RM1.2bil among local councils.

“In addition, a cost-saving strategy worth RM250mil by 2026 has also been planned to boost profitability,” he said in a press conference during MBI Selangor’s 30th anniversary dinner.

He said Selangor recorded RM101bil in investments last year, with the majority of RM82bil coming from the services sector.

“The new blueprint focuses on five main factors – growing income and profit, optimising business portfolio, digital transformation and automation, strengthening administration, and developing a high-performance talent and culture.

“The restructuring is not just for MBI’s internal structure; it’s also for MBI’s subsidiaries.

“We are aiming for MBI to receive dividends from its subsidiaries, which will then be returned to the state government,” he added.

Amirudin said MBI Selangor was also focusing on developing new talents and fostering a high-performance culture to contribute to the state through its subsidiaries.

“Prioritising talent development and a high-performance culture is crucial to ensuring that MBI can nurture new talents.

“Some of these efforts are already in place, through scholarship funds for state government subsidiaries and their families.

“MBI has been implementing this initiative annually,” he said, adding that employees and officers within MBI Selangor also received assistance.

MBI Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M. Yusop, in his speech, said the anniversary dinner was a celebration of key achievements that reflected MBI Selangor’s dedication and contributions to the state’s progress.

Among those present at the dinner were state executive councillors Mohd Najwan Halimi and Ng Sze Han, Selangor state assembly Speaker Lau Weng San and Deputy Speaker Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin.

Guests were treated to two theatrical performances, including one that reflected on MBI Selangor’s 30-year journey and celebrated its growth, achievements and contributions to Selangor.
