SD Guthrie, MBI to jointly develop 2,500-acre industrial project in Sepang

KUALA LUMPUR: SD Guthrie Bhd and Menteri Besar Selangor Inc have formed a strategic partnership for a large-scale mixed-use development in Sepang Estate, Selangor, adjacent to the KLIA Aeropolis.

The parties inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that marked their second collaboration on the heels of an integrated development project in Carey Island, Selangor.

In a joint statement, the parties said the proposed 2,500-acre development is envisioned as an integrated industrial park supported by commercial and complementary residential components.

The project is located within the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS), part of the Sepang Infinity Corridor Hub under the Sepang Local Plan 2035. It is expected to drive long-term economic growth and emerge as a key investment destination, in line with the objectives of Rancangan Selangor Pertama (RS-1).

According to the statement, the development will feature a range of industrial infrastructure, including manufacturing, logistics and value-added services, supported by business facilities, training centres and other community amenities that will be designed to promote a sustainable live-work ecosystem.

It is expected to further strengthen Selangor’s position as a key hub for industry and investment.

"The project is designed to support high‑value industries, including aerospace and logistics, as part of a broader and diversified economic ecosystem.

"It will also complement Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s next phase of growth, strengthen Selangor’s attractiveness to global

investors, and is projected to create more than 32,000 job opportunities by 2030,” said Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor.

Tan Sri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani, Guthrie’s chairman, said the initiative reflects the group’s continued commitment to support high impact developments for Selangor and the nation.

“We are aiming to create long-term value through strategic land development and industrial clustering to support Selangor’s economic transformation. Strategic land stewardship can enhance economic values, environmental integrity and social balance, while creating lasting

impact for the state and its stakeholders and enhance investor confidence,” he said.

MBI Selangor group CEO Datuk Saipolyazan M Yusop said the MOU underscores MBI Selangor’s continued commitment to advancing strategic developments that support Selangor’s long-term growth priorities.

“As the state’s investment arm, MBI Selangor plays a catalytic role in translating Selangor’s economic ambitions into tangible, high-impact developments. This industrial development is envisioned as a strategic growth node within IDRISS, strengthening the state’s aviation and

industrial ecosystem while capitalising on its proximity to KLIA and established infrastructure."
