Kuala Lumpur’s new art gallery is blurring the lines between art, culture and technology, inviting visitors to experience evocative environments designed to stimulate the senses.
Situated at The Labs Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC), the 2,790sq m Immersify Kuala Lumpur features 11 interactive zones, including Malaysia’s first 360°, 12m-high projection space, offering an immersive journey through different artistic and digital landscapes.
“Art is meeting modern technology and taking us to a stage of deeper immersion,” said Immersify Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Lee Moon Yub.
“Media art allows us to cross the boundaries of nature, humanity, space and time, making each guest an integral part of the art.”
Calling it Malaysia’s first permanent media art gallery, he said the opening exhibition is themed “Journey Beyond Imagination”.
The exhibition integrates high-definition visuals, interactive installations and 3D spatial sound, allowing visitors to engage with digital art in a new way.
Guests can explore nature-inspired landscapes, abstract designs and cultural elements across themed spaces, namely Mystic Falls, Surreal World, Art Gallery, Turning Moment, Neon Jungle, Moonlight Memories, Glowing Garden, Canvas Oceania, Illusion Road, Prism Shine and Starlight Garden.
The project is a collaboration between Bitgrim Immersify Group Sdn Bhd and Eco World Development Group Bhd, combining South Korean digital media expertise with Malaysia’s cultural landscape.
Moon Yub said the gallery reinterpreted nature in a delightful way and offered an experience for all ages.
“We made sure that families and children can enjoy this experience together, with several photo zones.”
Welcoming visitors to take photos, he said, “After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, or at least one good story.”
“I truly believe Immersify Kuala Lumpur will significantly contribute to the culture and arts of the city, while also enhancing tourism and education,” he added.
“So, let us enjoy this experience together, filled with joy, discovery and wonderful memories.”
Eco World president and chief executive officer Datuk Chang Khim Wah said Immersify Kuala Lumpur added a new dimension of creativity and engagement to The Labs at BBCC and was set to be a key tourist attraction.
“It is an exciting venture that enhances the vibrancy of BBCC while offering an artistic, technologically advanced and immersive experience for all.
“It reflects Eco World’s commitment to creating value and pushing new frontiers in placemaking,” he said.
Among those present at the launch of the gallery were Eco World Development executive chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin and deputy chief executive Liew Tian Xiong; Eco World Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and UDA Holdings Bhd chairman Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini.
