Since the programme’s launch in 1994, it has channelled over RM25mil to charity organisations nationwide.
This year, its mobile app dmcGO launched a promotion that allowed customers to participate in fundraising.
Overwhelming support from dmcGO members enabled the company to raise an additional RM500,000, ensuring support for even more organisations.
At the launch of this year’s programme, RM718,000 was presented to 50 charity groups from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Pahang.
The presentation ceremony, which was part of the company’s Chinese New Year celebrations, was held at Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory in Petaling Jaya.
Da Ma Cai managing director Datuk Seri Tan Kong Han said the programme was inspired by the values of resilience, wisdom and transformation symbolised by the Year of the Snake.
“With our customers, we hope to spread festive blessings and create a meaningful impact nationwide.
“As society evolves, we urge all charity organisations to adopt sustainable practices and rethink their operation models.
“This includes the exploring of renewable energy, recycling and reusing resources, and even forming alliances with others to seek solutions,” said Tan.
Among the programme beneficiaries was Sunbeams Foundation Home in Ampang.
Its general manager Victor Maniam said, “These funds enabled us to get our children brand new school uniforms and supplies”.
The festivities continued with two regional presentation ceremonies.
The Penang Home for the Infirm and Aged hosted the northern region ceremony where RM450,000 was given to 33 beneficiary groups from Penang, Kedah, Perlis and Perak.
Meanwhile, the southern region ceremony at Putuo Village in Kulai, Johor, saw RM450,000 channelled to 32 organisations from Johor, Melaka and Negri Sembilan.
