Menopause is often treated as a taboo or sensitive topic, especially among older generations.

To break the silence and stigma, Menopause Asia – a telehealth platform designed to help women in Asia navigate their menopause journey, held a documentary screening and panel discussion to educate Malaysians about menopause.

Menopause Asia founder Joanne Ho said about 70 guests benefitted from the session.

“The one-hour documentary shares unfiltered experiences of women navigating this transition and explores how Hormonal Replacement Treatment (HRT) can help.

“This is more than just a screening – it is a call to celebrate womanhood, prioritise wellness and spark meaningful conversations about health and vitality among women.

“Menopause Asia will serve as a resource hub aimed at fostering open discussions and providing real solutions for women in midlife,” she said.

Titled The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause, the documentary highlighted the health crisis faced by millions of women going through menopause.

Produced in the United States, it sheds light on the traumatic physical symptoms women may experience during perimenopause or menopause, while also addressing societal challenges, medical shortcomings and the need for a revolutionary approach to women’s health in America.

The event also featured a panel discussion with Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) specialist Dr Sangeet Kaur and health and wellness coach Jacqie Tan, moderated by model, actress and emcee Bernie Chan.

Dr Sangeet said the aim of the session was to reach out to women and empower them with knowledge about menopause.

“In Malaysia, menopause is still a taboo topic, but we do not have to suffer in silence.

“We want to create awareness, educate women about this natural biological process and discuss treatment options that can help alleviate their symptoms,” she added.

During the panel discussion, guests learned more about the symptoms of menopause and how a healthy diet and HRT can relieve the symptoms.
